Lords to debate remit of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse and its handling of evidence

Members of the House of Lords will tomorrow debate the remit of, and arrangements for the handling of evidence by, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).

The debate will be opened by Lord Campbell-Savours and will be held in the House of Lords Chamber. Baroness Barran will respond on behalf of the Government.

Lord Campbell-Savours is expected to welcome an inquiry into institutional failures to protect children from sexual abuse  but will heavily criticise the proposed arrangements for the conduct of the IICSA inquiry and propose a review of the management of sexual offences compensation under the criminal injuries compensation scheme.

The debate is expected to start at around 16:00pm on Thursday 20 December.

A full list of speakers to date can be found here. A list in the order in which Members will speak will be available on the day.

The debate can be watched live here on Parliament TV and a transcript will be available approximately three hours from the start of the debate on Hansard .
