Experts open evidence session for International Relations Committee's inquiry on UK foreign policy


Experts from King's College London, Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), Oxford University and Oxford Analytica will appear before the House of Lords International Relations Committee on Wednesday 24 January as part of its inquiry 'UK Foreign Policy in Changed World Conditions'.

Appearing at 10.30am will be:

  • Dr Neville Bolt, Director of the King's Centre for Strategic Communications, King's College London
  • Professor Michael Clarke, Senior Associate Fellow, RUSI
  • Dr Lucas Kello, Director of the Centre for Technology and Global Affairs, Oxford University; and
  • Mr Paul Maidment, Director of Analysis, Oxford Analytica

Questions are likely to include:

  • Brexit aside, what are the most significant changes in the international landscape that UK foreign policy must adapt to?
  • How are digital technologies changing international relations?
  • How have trans-national non-state actors and movements effected international affairs?
  • What effect has uncertainty about the US's role in global leadership and the Trump administration's emphasis on putting America first had on international affairs?
  • What effect will China's ambitions to play a more significant global role have on international relations?

The evidence session will take place at 10.30am in Committee Room 4.
