Lords to quiz ministers on Life Sciences and Industrial Strategy


The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will conclude taking evidence for its inquiry on Life Sciences and the Industrial Strategy on Tuesday 23 January.

The evidence session will begin at 10.10am in Committee Room 4A of the House of Lords. The Committee will question:

  • Lord O'Shaughnessy, Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Department of Health and Social Care
  • Lord Henley, Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

The Committee will explore with the witnesses what action is needed to ensure the success of the life science industrial strategy.

Topics the Committee are likely to cover include:

  • What plans the Government has drawn up to implement the life sciences industrial strategy and ensure its success
  • What the role of NHS is in the implantation of the life sciences industrial strategy
  • Whether the UK has the necessary skills to deliver the strategy
