Lords EU Committee to take evidence from Federation of Small Businesses
On Thursday 17 May 2018 Chris Walker, Policy Chair for Trade from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), will give evidence to the House of Lords EU External Affairs Sub-Committee.
This public evidence session, which starts at 10.05am, is part of the Committee's new Brexit: customs arrangements inquiry.
The questions the Committee is likely to ask include:
- How much of the administrative work when trading with non-EU countries is handled by small businesses themselves? How much is outsourced to freight forwarders and other intermediaries, such as customs brokers?
- Which of the two options proposed by the Government in its future partnership paper on customs is preferable to UK small businesses? What impact would these options have on the supply chains of small businesses?
- How prepared are small businesses to adapt to a new customs arrangement?
- What has been the experience of small businesses with the current customs system, CHIEF? What impact will the change to the new Customs Declaration Services (CDS) system have?
This public evidence session will begin at 10.05am on Thursday 17 May 2018 in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords.
