Lords to question former Crossrail CEO on off-site manufacture for construction
The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will take evidence for its inquiry investigating Off-site Manufacture for Construction on Tuesday 15 May. The Committee will hear from Andrew Wolstenholme OBE, Co-Chair of the Construction Leadership Council and former CEO of Crossrail as well as representatives from construction industry bodies.
The witnesses will give their views on how business models in the construction industry need to change for off-site manufacture to become more widely used and what actions are needed from the Government, through the Construction Leadership Council, and from the construction sector itself to help increase the use of off-site manufacture.
At 3.30pm the Committee will question:

- Simon Rawlinson, Construction Industry Council, Construction Industry Council
- Dr Diana Montgomery, Chief Executive, Construction Products Association
At 4.30pm the Committee will hear from:
- Andrew Wolstenholme OBE, Co-Chair, Construction Leadership Council, Former CEO, Crossrail
Questions the Committee are likely to ask include:
- Why is there no wider uptake of off-site manufacture for construction?
- What types of skills are needed to facilitate a move to off-site manufacture? How do these differ from traditional construction skills?
- How can companies in the construction sector be encouraged to collaborate and work together to facilitate the wider use of off-site manufacture?
The evidence session will begin at 3.30pm in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
