UK foreign policy and India: Lords International Relations Committee to take evidence
Experts on India will appear before the House of Lords International Relations Committee on Wednesday 9 May as part of its inquiry UK Foreign Policy in Changed World Conditions.
The session will focus on Indian foreign policy, its engagement with regional and international organisations, and its relationship with the UK.
The Committee's inquiry was launched in January 2018 to examine the changing face of international relations and foreign policy, and to assess the UK's strategy and capability to adapt to these changes.
Appearing at 10.40am will be:
- Professor Kate Sullivan de Estrada, Associate Professor in the International Relations of South Asia, Oxford University
- Mr Rahul Roy-Chaudhury, Senior Fellow for South Asia, International Institute for Strategic Studies
Questions will include:
- To what extent are India's foreign policy ambitions regional or global?
- How does India view the role of the United Kingdom in the world? How important is the UK to India's foreign policy ambitions?
- What is India's view of the rise of China?
- How is India engaging with regional and international organisations?
The evidence session will take place in Committee Room 4.
