Intellectual Property: Minister and Intellectual Property Office director to give evidence to Lords EU Justice Committee
What has been the impact of Brexit so far on intellectual property rights in the UK? Will UK businesses be protected after Brexit? What will be the consequences of a no-deal Brexit?
The House of Lords EU Justice Sub-Committee will question Sam Gyimah MP, Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation and Adam Williams, Director of International Policy at the Intellectual Property Office, on Tuesday 13 November regarding intellectual property rights after Brexit.
Speaking to the Committee at 10.45am Sam Gyimah and Adam Williams will be asked questions including:
- How would you summarise Brexit's impact on the UK's intellectual property landscape? Are there specific areas of concern or opportunity?
- What plans does the Government have to help small businesses, in particular, mitigate the impact of Brexit on the protection of any EU based intellectual property rights they may hold?
- What progress has the Government made since June on the Withdrawal Agreement provision dealing with Geographical Indications?
- Do you foresee any problems for the coherence of the UK's intellectual property law regime when and if the UK seeks to join other existing free trade areas?
The session will take place from 10.45am on Tuesday 13 November in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
