Intellectual property rights post-Brexit: Lords to take evidence

What will be the impact of Brexit on UK intellectual property rights? How prepared is the UK for this impact? What Brexit deal would you like to see regarding intellectual property?

The House of Lords EU Justice Sub-Committee will take evidence from legal professionals on Tuesday 23 October regarding intellectual property rights after Brexit.

Speaking to the Committee at 10.45am will be:

  • Daniel Alexander QC, 8 New Square Chambers
  • Charlotte May QC, 8 New Square Chambers
  • Trevor Cook, Wilmer Hale

Questions are likely to include:

  • Does Brexit pose any dangers to the protection of intellectual property rights in the UK?
  • Are there any positive aspects of Brexit for the protection of intellectual property rights in the UK?
  • What is your view of the Government's plans for the protection of intellectual property rights in the event of a ‘no-deal' scenario?
  • Ideally, what Brexit deal would you like to see the Government achieve regarding intellectual property rights?

The session will take place from 10.45am on Tuesday 23 October in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
