What will be the impact of Brexit on UK intellectual property rights? Lords to take evidence
What will be the impact of Brexit on UK patent protection? What are the positive aspects of Brexit regarding patents? What would be the best deal that the Government could make on patent protection?
The House of Lords EU Justice Sub-Committee will continue taking evidence from legal professionals who specialise in patents on Tuesday 30 October regarding intellectual property rights after Brexit.
Speaking to the Committee at 10.45am will be:
- Kevin Mooney, Simmons & Simmons
- Stephen Jones, President of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA)
Questions are likely to include:
- What is the relationship between the European Patent Convention, EU law and the Unified Patent Court (UPC)?
- What impact do you think Brexit might have on the UK's future participation in the Unified Patent Court?
- Does Brexit pose any dangers to the broader protection of patent rights in the UK?
- What are the positive aspects of Brexit for the protection of patent rights in the UK?
- To what extent does Brexit create opportunities for reform of the UK's patent protection system?
- Ideally, what Brexit deal would you like to see the Government achieve for patent protection?
