Lords International Relations Committee to take evidence from former GCHQ Director and former National Security Advisor
The House of Lords International Relations Committee will continue taking evidence on Wednesday 12 September for its inquiry UK Foreign Policy in Changed World Conditions.
The Committee's inquiry was launched in January 2018 to examine the changing face of international relations and foreign policy, and to assess the UK's strategy and capability to adapt to these changes.
Starting at 10.40am the Committee will hear from Mr Roert Hannigan CMG, former Director, GCHQ (2014-2017), and Sir Mark Lyall Grant KCMG, former National Security Advisor (2015-2017).
Questions are likely to include:
- What would you identify as the most pressing foreign policy and national security issues facing the UK?
- Is the National Security Council appropriately structured to coordinate the UK's international policies?
- How well has the UK adapted to the cyber security threat? What more is there to be done?
- Which countries represent the UK's most important partners in its post-Brexit foreign policy?
The evidence session will take place in Committee Room 2.
