Lords committee to take evidence from migration watch on immigration and jobs after Brexit
On Thursday 23 February 2017 the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee is taking evidence from policy experts including from Migration Watch and the Resolution Foundation.
This evidence session is part of the Committee's inquiry into ‘Brexit and the Labour Market'.
At 11.35am the Committee will hear evidence from:
- Lord Green of Deddington, Chairman, Migration Watch UK
- Stephen Clarke, Research & Policy Analyst, Resolution Foundation
- Philippe Legrain, Visiting Senior Fellow, European Institute, London School of Economics and the Institute of Economic Affairs.
Questions the Committee is likely to ask include:
- Why has the UK failed to control immigration from non-EU countries?
- Has high migration reduced wages, particulars in lower-paid jobs?
- What is the best system to control future migration from the EU?
- Should EU citizens be given preferential treatment over non-EU citizens?
- Will many EU workers, currently in the UK, leave after Brexit?
- Will a reduction in skilled EU workers mean more jobs for UK graduates?
The evidence session will take place at 11.35am on Thursday 23 February 2017 in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords.
