Canadian Confederation 150th Anniversary: Lord Speaker to welcome Canadian Minister of Justice and Former Prime Minister
Minister of Justice and Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould, and 19th Prime Minister of Canada Rt Hon. Kim Campbell will be welcomed to the House of Lords on Tuesday 4 July by the Lord Speaker to mark the 150th Anniversary of the Canadian Confederation.
The Canada 150 Lecture will see Canada's first indigenous Attorney General Minister Wilson-Raybould and the Rt Hon. Kim Campbell discuss a range of topics to do with international affairs and Canada-UK relations, followed by a panel discussion.
The panel including the Lord Speaker and Lord Howell of Guildford, Chair of the International Relations Committee, will reflect on Canadian history, discuss common misconceptions regarding Canadian federation, consider what the future of Canada's domestic and foreign policy might look like, and talk about the restoration of the Canadian Parliament.
The panel discussion will be followed by questions from the audience, and a conclusion and thanks from Lord Howell.
The lecture will start at 18:30 (GMT) on Tuesday 4 July in the Robing Room in the House of Lords.
