On Tuesday 17 October 2017 Shakira Martin, President of the National Unions of Students and Martin Lewis, Founder of MoneySavingExpert.com will give evidence to the House of Lords Economics Affairs Committee.
Hannah Morrish, Student Choice and Higher Education Lead of The Student Room, will also face questions from the Committee.
All three will give evidence to the Committee's inquiry into the economics of higher, further and technical education.
Questions the Committee is likely to ask include:
- Are students getting value for money from the current system?
- Do current and potential students understand how the loan system actually works?
- Are the interest rates on student loans too high?
- Do students have enough information to make an informed choice about which university to attend?
- Are you concerned about grade inflation?
- Why has there been a decline in the number of part-time students?
- Has the expansion of higher education been at the expense of further and technical education?
- How feasible is it to abolish tuition fees?
The evidence session will take place at 3.35pm on Tuesday 17 October in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords.
