Chancellor Philip Hammond to face Lords Committee questions
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, will be questioned by the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee on Tuesday 12 September 2017. This is the Chancellor's first appearance before a Parliamentary select committee since the general election.
The Committee are likely to ask about subjects relating to its present inquiry, including:
- Expansion of higher education
- Underemployment of graduates
- Sustainability of the student loan system
- Proposed sale of the pre-2012 student loan book
- Funding of further and technical education
The Committee are also likely to ask about the following topics:
- Current state of the economy
- Brexit and transitional arrangements
- Post-Brexit immigration policy
- International students and the net migration target
- Hinkley Point C
The evidence session will take place at 3.35pm on Tuesday 12 September in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords.
