Prime Minister, Theresa May, made a statement in the House of Commons on the urgent action taken to alleviate humanitarian suffering in Syria.

The Prime Minister explained to the House the actions that were taken, together with American and French allies, to degrade the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons capabilities and to deter their future use

The Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, responded on behalf of the Opposition and commented on how the statement served as a reminder that the Prime Minister is accountable to Parliament, and not to the whims of the US President. The Leader of the Opposition also went on to say there was a need for a war powers Act to transform a broken convention into a legal obligation.
