Brexit Secretary, Stephen Barclay, is to give a statement to the House of Commons on Article 50.

This statement follows the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruling that the United Kingdom can unilaterally revoke the Article 50 process, which it triggered in March 2017.

Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty sets out the process for a European Union member state to leave the Union. Following the UK's vote to leave the EU in the referendum of June 2016, the British Government invoked Article 50 on 29 March 2017. This started a two year process culminating in the UK leaving the EU on 29 March 2019.
