Monday 7 January
Offensive Weapons Bill
The draft law aims to update rules around sale and possession of corrosive products, knives and firearms. It will have its second reading, the key debate on the draft law's purpose and principles, on Monday 7 January.
Tuesday 8 January
Financial Services (Implementation of Legislation) Bill
The bill provides powers to implement and make changes EU financial services legislation which are in the process of being adopted across the EU. The powers will last for two years after the UK withdrawal from the EU, in the event of a 'no-deal' scenario. Members have debated the key areas of the bill and committee stage, a chance to check the bill line by line, will take place on Tuesday 8 January.
Withdrawal agreement debate
Members will debate the government's EU withdrawal agreement and the framework for the future UK-EU relationship on Wednesday 9, Thursday 10 and Monday 14 January. This is a continuation of the Lords debate that began in December.
Lords select committees
Tuesday 8 January
The Committee's inquiry into internet regulation continues, hearing from Lesley Smith, UK & Ireland director of public policy for Amazon.
The Committee hears from experts as part of its inquiry into social care funding in England. Sharon Allen, CEO of sector body Skills for Care and Prof Jill Manthorpe, director of NIHR Social Care Workforce Research Unit will answer questions from members.
Wednesday 9 January
Former foreign secretaries Jack Straw and Sir Malcolm Rifkind give evidence to the Committee on Parliamentary scrutiny of treaties.
The Committee is investigating EU student exchanges and funding for university research after Brexit. Jane Racz and Madeleine Rose, director and deputy director of Erasmus UK National Agency, will give evidence, followed by the Committee quizzing Chris Skidmore MP, minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation.
The Committee's latest inquiry looks at the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and will hear from Tom Plant, director of proliferation and nuclear policy at the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi).
