Senior Lords official recognised as top ten ally

Simon Burton, clerk assistant and the second most senior official in the House of Lords, is nominated as one of the top ten UK LGBT allies by the British LGBT Awards 2018.

The awards aim to showcase individuals and organisations that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the LGBT community.

Simon Burton is a senior clerk and procedural adviser in the House of Lords. He is member of the Management Board, responsible for the delivery of parliamentary services in support of the House and its members. In this role he is board level champion for ParliOUT, the Workplace Equality Network supporting LGBT+ people in Parliament.

Simon is a member of the Lords LGBT Ally network, who work to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment particularly for LGBT colleagues, helping everyone bring their whole selves to work. They stand up to and call out discrimination and prejudice where they see it.
