Secure Tenancies (Victims of Domestic Abuse) Bill: Lords third reading

The Secure Tenancies (Victims of Domestic Abuse) Bill had its third reading, a chance to ‘tidy up’ the bill and make changes, in the Lords on Tuesday 13 March.

No changes were made to the bill at third reading. The bill will now go to the House of Commons for its consideration.

Lords report stage: Tuesday 6 March

Members discussed a range of subjects including the costs of obtaining evidence of domestic abuse, joint tenancies and eligibility for the secure tenancy.

    Lords committee stage: Wednesday 24 January

    Members discussed subjects including the granting of old style secure tenancies by local authorities, the duty of the government minister to issue guidance on the evidence of domestic abuse, and a review into the co-operation between local authorities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

    Lords second reading: Tuesday 9 January

    Members discussed the key points raised by the bill including the impact of domestic abuse and housing insecurity.

    The bill seeks to protect the life-time tenancies of people in social housing who are rehoused due to domestic violence.
