The Commons voted to leave the Palace of Westminster during the restoration works.

MPs considered the report of the Joint Committee on Restoration and Renewal of the Palace of Westminster. The report was first published on 8 September 2016.

Two motions on Restoration and Renewal were put to the House in the name of the Leader of the House of Commons, Andrea Leadsom.

The Commons voted 236 to 220 to approve amendment (b) to the motion Restoration and Renewal (No. 1) and then approved the motion as amended. As a result, there was no vote on the motion Restoration and Renewal (No. 2).
