Statement on sustainable fisheries for future generations: 4 July 2018
4 July 2018 (updated on 4 July 2018)
Michael Gove, Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs made a statement on sustainable fisheries for future generations.
In his statement, Michael Gove claimed the Government have "worked with other nations, through the Commonwealth Clean Oceans Alliance and the G7, to further enhance the health and productivity of our marine environment, and the global leadership the Prime Minister has shown in securing cleaner seas has been recognised by the United Nations."
The statement was responded to by Sue Hayman MP, who stated that "the Secretary of State made fisheries the poster child for the leave campaign, and a number of promises were made to the fishing industry and coastal communities about what Brexit would mean for them. So far, he has categorically failed to deliver."
