Tottenham MP David Lammy asked an urgent question in the House of Commons on Home Secretary Sajid Javid's decision to pause the 'hostile environment' policy.

The Immigration Act 2014 introduced a range of measures intended to create a 'hostile environment' for individuals who are in the United Kingdom without proof of their right to remain.

The question was responded to by the Minister for Immigration, Caroline Nokes, who claimed the Government have "put in place additional safeguards to ensure that legal migrants are not inadvertently caught up by measures designed to tackle illegal migration."

David Lammy asked the Minister to "confirm that these changes are not just for the Windrush generation and that they are in fact for everyone who has been affected by the hostile environment?"
