Statement on Airports National Policy Statement: 5 June 2018

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling made a statement to the House of Commons on Tuesday 5 June 2018 on the Airports National Policy Statement.
The Secretary of State announced that the Government is proposing to expand Heathrow Airport, "which signals our commitment to securing global connectivity, creating tens of thousands of local jobs and apprenticeships, and boosting our economy for future generations".
Shadow Transport Secretary Andy McDonald said, "It is imperative that the Government provide guarantees to the House that the recommendations and conditions established by the Transport Committee will be embedded in the revised NPS".
