Statement on proposed media mergers: 5 June 2018

Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, made a statement in the House of Commons on Tuesday 6 June 2018 on proposed media mergers.

The Secretary of State set out his decisions on the proposed mergers between Comcast and Sky and between 21st Century Fox and Sky.

In response, the Shadow Secretary of State, Tom Watson told the House, "we on the Labour Benches understand that there are many commercial and technical elements of this bid to consider, but for us the priority has been to safeguard the future of Sky News".
