This week in the House of Commons, MPs debated the expansion of Heathrow Airport, the Offensive Weapons Bill and more.
National Policy Statements
National Policy Statement on Airports
On Monday 25 June 2018, MPs debated the National Policy Statement on Airports, which relates to runway capacity and infrastructure at airports in the South East of England.
The House of Commons voted to approve the National Policy Statement, which calls for the expansion of Heathrow Airport in west London.
Legislation: Government bills
Automated and Electric Vehicles Bill
On Tuesday 26 June, MPs considered amendments made to the Automated and Electric Vehicles Bill by the House of Lords.
The Commons agreed a range of amendments made by the Lords.
Haulage Permits and Trailer Registration Bill
The remaining stages of the Haulage Permits and Trailer Registration Bill took place on Tuesday 26 June 2018. The Bill passed third reading with amendments. It will now return to the House of Lords for consideration of amendments.
Offensive Weapons Bill
The second reading of the Offensive Weapons Bill took place on Wednesday 27 June 2018. The Bill passed second reading without a division and will now be considered by a Public Bill Committee.

Ten Minute Rule Bills
Two Bills were introduced to the House of Commons this week under the Ten Minute Rule Motion Procedure:
- Food Advertising (Protection of Children from Targeting) Bill
- Toilets (Provision and Accessibility) Bill

One bill was introduced under the presentation bill procedure:
Motions and statutory instruments
This week, MPs debated a motion on the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement and another on privilege, following Dominic Cummings's refusal to appear before the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee.
The House also debated a statutory instrument, the draft European Union (Definition of Treaties) (Canada Trade Agreement) Order 2018. This relates to the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the European Union and Canada.
