Urgent question on Heathrow Airport: 7 June 2018
7 June 2018 (updated on 7 June 2018)
Justine Greening, MP for Putney, asked an urgent question on Heathrow Airport in the House of Commons on 7 June 2018.
This followed the Government's announcement earlier in the week that they are proposing to expand Heathrow Airport.
Greening urged the Government to "publish the papers that the [Cabinet] Sub-Committee did look at, so that we can establish the level of detail that was available to it when it reached its conclusion" on Heathrow.
Responding on behalf of the Government, Transport Minister Jesse Norman told the House, "The Government have not entered into any agreement that gives Heathrow the right to recover its losses in the event of the scheme not proceeding, and nor would they accept any liability for any of the costs that Heathrow Airport Ltd has incurred or will incur in the future".
