As part of the Lord Speaker’s lecture series, Lord Donoughue, former senior advisor to the prime minister, and Lord Radice, former Labour MP and historian of the Labour party, assessed the life and work of Harold Wilson MP on 6 March 2018.

After helping Wilson fight the 1974 General Election, Lord Donoughue joined Wilson’s ‘kitchen cabinet’ in the Policy Unit at 10 Downing Street, and remained at No 10 throughout Wilson's second premiership.

Lord Radice was Member of Parliament for Chester-le-Street from 1973 to 1983 and Member of Parliament for North Durham from 1983 to 2001. He has published a number of group biographies of Labour politicians.

(Note: we expect to include the text of Lord Radice’s remarks shortly.)
