Statement: Building safety update
15 March 2018 (updated on 15 March 2018)
Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, made a statement updating the Commons on building safety on Thursday 15 March.
The statement was made in response to "issues arising from the Metropolitan police investigation into the Grenfell tragedy".
The Shadow Housing Minister, Tony Lloyd, responded on behalf of the Opposition telling the House, "nine months on, only seven of more than 300 tower blocks that had been identified as having dangerous cladding have had that cladding removed and replaced with something more acceptable".
