Penny Mordaunt, Secretary of State for International Development, gave a counter-Daesh update in the House of Commons, 29 March 2018.

Penny Mordaunt opened the statement by saying that the House that Daesh has been all but destroyed as a territorial entity in Iraq and Syria, having lost over 98% of the territory it once held across both countries. The United Kingdom has led the way, alongside our allies the United States and the Government of Iraq, in creating the global coalition against Daesh.

This statement was responded to by Dan Carden MP, who welcomed the continued humanitarian support that the UK provides through the Department for International Development.
