Karen Bradley, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, made a statement in the Commonson Northern Ireland finance.

Karen Bradley informed the House that the Government remains "steadfast" in their commitment to the Belfast agreement. She also stated that the time is right to address the "ongoing public concern about MLA pay in the absence of a functioning Assembly".

Her opposite number, Owen Smith, responded on behalf of the Opposition. He welcomed the commitment to the Belfast agreement, but told the House, "we need more than more tireless activity; we need to see some success in the forthcoming negotiations if we are to get to next month’s 20th anniversary with a real sense of optimism about the future of the agreement and of power sharing".
