Chris Grayling, Secretary of State for Transport, made a rail announcement statement on Tuesday 27 March 2018.

The Transport Secretary made a statement on the future of the west coast main line and the Government's plans for the integration of track and train on railways and the plans for the transition to the operation of High Speed 2 as it opens up in 2026.

Shadow Transport Minister, Rachael Maskell, responded on behalf of the Opposition and commented that the Government was not setting out a strategic direction on the UK's rail industry.
