Urgent Question on future fisheries management after the UK leaves the EU
20 March 2018 (updated on 20 March 2018)
Alistair Carmichael, Liberal Democrat MP for Orkney and Shetland, asked an Urgent Question in the House of Commons on future fisheries management after the UK leaves the EU.
The question was responded to by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Michael Gove, who stated that any attempts by the EU to operate in a way that harmed the UK fishing industry would breach the obligations they had committed to.
Alistair Carmichael argued that the mood in fishing communities is one of palpable anger and that they are not being given what they were promised.
