The Committee will first meet on Tuesday 22 May 2018. It will stop receiving written evidence at the end of the Committee stage, which is expected to be not later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 5 June 2018. Aims of the Bill
The Bill has two purposes:
1. It creates the architecture for a number of scenarios, including a ‘no deal’ Brexit. It would allow the Secretary of State to deal with the consequences of a range of exit scenarios on the UK haulage industry by creating an international road haulage permit scheme; and
2. It deals with the consequences of the UK ratifying the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, specifically as it relates to trailers, by providing the Secretary of State with powers to make a trailer registration scheme.

Follow the progress of the Haulage Permits and Trailer Registration [Lords] Bill
The Bill was introduced in the House of Lords on 7 February 2018. The debate on Second Reading took place on 27 February 2018. The Bill was considered and amended in Committee on 13 and 22 March 2018. Third Reading took place on 24 April.
The Bill’s debate on Second Reading in the Commons took place on 14 May 2018.
This Bill has now been committed to a Public Bill Committee which will hold its first meeting on Tuesday 22 May 2018.

The Public Bill Committee is now able to receive written evidence. The sooner you send in your submission, the more time the Committee will have to take it into consideration and possibly reflect it in an amendment. The order in which amendments are taken in Committee will be available in due course under Selection of Amendments on the Bill documents pages. Once the Committee has dealt with an amendment it will not revisit it.
The Committee will only meet on Tuesday 22 May2018. It will stop receiving written evidence at the end of the Committee stage, which is expected to be not later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 5 June 2018.
