Lord debates Veterans Strategy

Members of the Lords, including a trustee of ex-service personnel charity Veteran's Aid and the president of Bideford branch of the Royal British Legion, debated the government's Veterans Strategy, in the House of Lords on Thursday 15 November.

This was a general debate. They normally take place on a Thursday in the chamber. During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.

The debate was proposed by Earl Attlee (Conservative), former major in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Territorial Army

Members who took part included:

  • Baroness Fookes (Conservative), vice president of armed forces charity SSAFA Forces Help
  • Lord Tunnicliffe (Labour), Lords opposition spokesperson for defence
  • Lord Walker of Aldringham (Crossbench), trustee of ex-service personnel charity Veteran's Aid and former Chief of the Defence Staff

Earl Howe (Conservative), minister of state in the Ministry of Defence, responded on behalf of the government.
