Chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee, Yvette Cooper, asked the Government about the status of EU citizens' rights in the event of no deal.

Minister of State for Immigration, Caroline Nokes, responded to the urgent question stating that the Government was confident of leaving the European Union with a deal. However, she did clarify that in the event of no deal, all EU citizens registered within the UK by 29 March 2019 would be "welcome to stay".

Yvette Cooper responded, pressing the Government on what checks will apply to EU citizens in the event of no deal. She also questioned what documents EU citizens would have to show in order to apply for work within the UK.
