Government questioned on dangerous waste from NHS patients
9 October 2018
Shadow Health Secretary, Jonathan Ashworth, asked an urgent question on the accumulation of human body parts and dangerous waste from NHS patients.
The Environment Agency has launched a criminal investigation into Healthcare Environmental Services after discovering it was in breach of its environmental permits.
The Shadow Secretary of State called it "another disastrous procurement of an outsourced contract by a private firm going wrong". In response, Minister for Health Stephen Barclay told the House that, "our priority throughout has been to ensure that measures were put in place so that the NHS could continue operating as normal".
