Government questioned on food labelling and allergy-related deaths
9 October 2018
Melanie Onn, MP for Great Grimsby, asked an urgent question on UK food labelling and allergy-related deaths.
The question follows the news that a coroner has ruled that Pret a Manger's food labelling had been inadequate when Natasha Ednan-Laperouse died after buying a sandwich at Heathrow Airport in 2016.
Melanie Onn accused the Government of slow action on the issue of food labelling. Responding, Food and Animal Welfare Minister David Rutley said that recent "tragic cases" showed that work on this issue "needs to be accelerated with real pace".
