Emergency debate: Recent violence in Yemen

MPs held an emergency debate today on the recent escalation of violence in Yemen on Tuesday 11 September 2018.
The debate was opened by Stephen Twigg, Labour Co-op MP for Liverpool, West Derby.
Mr Twigg stated that: "To my knowledge, the Government have not condemned these August attacks. A statement by the Department for International Development and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office earlier this month expressed “serious concern” and welcomed the speed of the coalition's investigation into the school bus airstrike. That is too soft. We need a strong, clear and firm condemnation by our Government of these attacks."
The House resolved this debate on a motion "That this House has considered the recent escalation of violence in Yemen."

The House of Commons agreed to an application for an emergency debate, made by Stephen Twigg, Chair of the International Development Committee, on Monday 11 September 2018.
