Opposition presses Government on tuition fees for EU students

The Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner has asked an urgent question following reports that the Government are looking to raise tuition fees for students from the EU after Brexit.
For the 2019-20 academic year, students from other EU countries will be eligible for home fee status, but press reports have indicated that the Government may be looking to increase fees for EU students in the near future.
Asking her urgent question, the Shadow Education Secretary told the House;
"At a time where finances of universities are a matter of increasing concern, what impact will these changes have on the sustainability of our institutions?"
Responding on behalf of the Government, Minister Chris Skidmore said,
"It is vitally important that [students and staff] understand that this Government is determined to ensure going forwards. Even though we are leaving the European Union we are not our academic research partnerships behind."
