MP for Tottenham, David Lammy, asked an urgent question on the Government's Windrush Scheme.

On 16 April 2018, the Home Secretary set up a taskforce to make arrangements to assist those who were part of the 'Windrush generation'.

The 'Windrush generation' are Commonwealth citizens who are long term UK residents who do not have documents to demonstrate their status.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid responded to the urgent question, saying:

"I said on the day that I became Home Secretary, "I am determined to right the wrongs suffered by members of the Windrush generation", and let there be no doubt - my commitment to this remains resolute".

David Lammy replied to the Home Secretary, criticising the Home Office's response to the Windrush issue. He called each case was a "shocking indictment of the Government's pandering to far right racism".
