Theresa May returns to the Commons after world summits with a statement on her final G20 Summit and the leadership of EU institutions.
Last week's G20 summit was the fourteenth meeting of the G20 nations and took place in Osaka, Japan. This year subjects including trade wars, international tensions and climate change were discussed by world leaders.

Updating the House, Theresa May said;
"Those gathered at this year's summit are the last generation of leaders with the power to limit global warming. I believe we have the duty to heed the call from those asking us to act now for the sake of future generations. Taken together G20 countries account for 80% of global greenhouse gas emissions. […] It remains a disappointment that the United States continues to opt out on such a critical global issue."
She also spoke about the leadership of EU institutions, following the opening of the newly elected European Parliament on 2 July 2019. She said;
"After long and difficult discussions over the last few days the Council voted for a package of candidates with an important balance of gender reflecting the diversity of the European Union."
Responding, the Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, said;
"Where the leaders of the world's most powerful countries fail, instead we look to civil society, trade unions and community groups, and an inspirational generation of young people for the transformative change that is required. This summit's communiqué did not make the necessary commitments on climate change."
