The Kew Gardens (Leases No. 3 ) Bill 2017-19
Summary of the Bill
The Bill has passed through its House of Lords and Commons stages and is awaiting Royal Assent..
The Kew Gardens (Leases No. 3) Bill changes the Government's powers of management for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
It would allow leases of up to 150 years, instead of the current limit of 31 years. This could enable Kew to generate more income from residential and commercial leases, and enable it to achieve its core objectives which include retaining UNESCO World Heritage Site status
