Lords debates gender equality, women's rights and health

On Monday 17 June, members of the House of Lords debated the UK's role in the international promotion of gender equality and women's sexual and reproductive health and rights in light of the Women Deliver conference in Vancouver.
Members taking part included the shadow spokesperson on equalities and women's issues and a former member of the Sexual Violence in Conflict Committee.

This was a general debate. During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.
The debate was proposed by Baroness Sugg (Conservative), parliamentary under-secretary in the Department for International Development, who also responded on behalf of the government.
