MP questions Government on violent crime after constituency murder

This weekend saw three murders in London, including a stabbing in Jim Fitzpatrick's Poplar and Limehouse constituency.
Using an urgent question, Fitzpatrick asked the Government what it was doing to protect people from violent crime.
After three murders in 24 hours on Saturday 15 June, the Metropolitan Police gave a statement saying "‘Bearing down on violent crime on the streets of London continues to be a top priority'.

Home Office Minister Victoria Atkins told the House,
"We remain determined to protect the public and to stop more lives being taken, but Members will appreciate that there is no shortcut to tackling serious violence."
Following up on his question, Jim Fitzpatrick said:
"Londoners don't want to see us politicians scoring points and/or playing party politics with this, they want answers and they want action."
