Lord Speaker's lectures: The BBC and the Future of News

On Wednesday 20 March, Lord Hall of Birkenhead gave the second talk in the Lord Speaker's 2019 Lecture Series: The BBC and the future of news.

The talk, which was held in the Robing Room in the House of Lords, was attended by over 180 Peers, MPs, staff and external stakeholders.

Lord Hall, the Director-General of the BBC, spoke about impartiality, the fightback against ‘fake news' and the global role of the BBC. Following the talk, Lord Hall participated in a lively Q&A session with Peers and staff.

The lecture is available on iPlayer until 22 April.

Upcoming lecturers this year include Lord McConnell of Glenscorrodale who will speak on Scottish devolution on Wednesday 15 May.
