Lords debates role of the Commonwealth

On Thursday 28 March, members of the House of Lords debated the continuing and evolving role of the Commonwealth and the UK's relationship with it.
Members taking part included the president of the Africa International Business Forum and the president of the Royal Commonwealth Society.
This was a general debate. They normally take place on a Thursday in the chamber. During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.
Baroness Goldie (Conservative), government whip and former member of the Scottish Parliament, opened the debate and responded at its conclusion on behalf of the government.
