Government statement on domestic violence

Housing Secretary, James Brokenshire, made a statement in the House of Commons on the Government's plans to provide secure homes for victims of domestic abuse.
Councils in England will have a legal duty to provide secure, safe homes for victims of domestic abuse under new plans announced by the Housing Secretary.
The Housing Secretary told the House,
"Domestic abuse can take many forms and affects the young and old, male and female. But whoever the victim, those fleeing abuse must have somewhere safe to go."
Shadow Housing Minister, Sarah Jones, welcomed the statement and pressed the Minister for further details on funding and whether it would be ring-fenced.
