Lords debates political unrest in Hong Kong

On Thursday 24 October, members of the House of Lords, including a former shadow spokesperson for foreign and commonwealth affairs, debated the recent political unrest in Hong Kong, and calls to offer residents of Hong Kong citizenship in another country.

This was a balloted debate. They normally take place on a Thursday. During debates, members are able to put their experience to good use, discussing current issues and drawing the government's attention to concerns.

The debate was proposed by Lord Alton of Liverpool (Crossbench), member of the International Relations and Defence Committee.
