This week in the Commons, MPs debated the second reading of the Domestic Abuse Bill, asked questions about the collapse of Wrightbus and the shorting of the pound, and conducted a landmark PMQs.

Domestic Abuse Bill

MPs passed the second reading of the Domestic Abuse Bill in the House of Commons on 2 October 2019.

The purpose of the Bill is raise awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on victims. It aims to improve the effectiveness of the justice system in providing protection and systematic support for victims of domestic abuse.

Prime Minister's Questions

History was made at this week's PMQs, when Diane Abbott, representing the Opposition, became the first black MP to represent their party in the House. The Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State stood in for the Prime Minister. MPs asked Dominic Raab MP about abortion rights in Northern Ireland, special advisers, the Brexit deadline and the threat of the DPRK.
