Government update on security situation in Northern Ireland

Following recent events in Derry/Londonderry, the Northern Ireland Secretary, Karen Bradley, is to update the House on the security situation.
On Saturday 19 January 2019, a car bomb attack was carried out in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The Secretary of State, Karen Bradley, updated the House of Commons on the security situation in Northern Ireland.
The Northern Ireland Secretary made the following comments during her statement:
“Londonderry is a city that has thrived since the signing of the Belfast/Good Friday agreement 20 years ago—everyone can see that—and one that will continue to grow and develop despite the actions of those who seek to sow discord and division. That is why the city has sent a clear message in the wake of this attack—that these people and these actions have no place in their city.”
Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Tony Lloyd, responded on behalf of the Opposition and made the following remarks:
“It is right that the attack should have received universal condemnation across the different communities in Derry, from the Democratic Unionist party through to Sinn Féin. The House of Commons now has an opportunity to add its voice to that condemnation”.
